Rules for using Fire Hut and shelters
The Fire Hut is intended for individuals, families, and small groups. You can reach the site on foot, by bicycle, or by wheelchair. Parking is available at the boot – Støvlen.
Bookings have priority.
Note: The Fire Hut is under 24/7 video surveillance for safety reasons.
To ensure everyone has a pleasant experience, please follow these rules:
- You may book the Fire Shelter for a maximum of two consecutive days.
- Toilet visits must be made at the compost toilet behind the Fire Shelter.
An accessible toilet is available at Støvlen or Sønderborg Nature Center. - Drinking water is available at the Fire Shelter – please let the water run for a bit first. (The water supply is turned off during frost periods.)
- You may use the firewood provided in the shelter. We replenish it regularly, but if you want to be sure, we recommend bringing your own firewood. Use only dry wood to avoid excessive smoke inside the shelter.
- Collecting firewood from the forest or thickets is not allowed.
- Fires may only be lit in the designated fire pit in the Fire Shelter – keep the flame height low.
- Sort your waste into the correct bins in the Fire Shelter or take it home with you.
- Treat the facilities with care and leave the place tidy and clean.
- Motorized access to the Fire Shelter is not permitted.
Special access may be granted for persons with disabilities. - Keep your noise level considerate of other guests in the area.
- Electrical outlets are primarily for charging electric wheelchairs.
- Follow the instructions for the Fire Shelter’s facilities.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times during your stay and on Kær Vestermark.
